Grampa and Sawyer with the horse, Dec. 2008This last weekend we went to visit Grannie and Grampa. Grannie has been trying to get her living room and kitchen repainted before Brandon graduates from high school. My Grandma will be there this Friday for Memorial Day and Brandon's seminary graduation so there is a little bit of a time crunch. We went to help. Well, Sawyer really isn't any help...he is just trouble so he spent a lot of time with Grampa. Grampa started the loader and took him for a little ride. Sawyer was a little afraid when they got close the the loader. From the house it doesn't look too big, but the tires are taller that my dad. It is huge and a little intimidating. Then Sawyer 'helped' Grampa mow the lawn on the riding lawn mower. He wasn't a very good driver and took Grampa for a little joy ride. Then Sawyer went with Grampa to get pizza for dinner since we really couldn't use the kitchen much. The next day, Grampa let Sawyer drive his bobcat. Sawyer was much better with the handles on the bobcat than the steering wheel on the lawn mower. He took Grampa exactly where Grampa asked him to and lifted the bucket up and dumped it out. Sawyer was talking about it all day. Grampa then took Sadie and Sawyer for a four-wheeler ride. Sawyer and a great time.
Meanwhile, my mom and I painted and painted and painted. We only managed to get the ceiling and the trim painted, but Mom should be able to paint the walls this week. It looks really nice. Friday night my parents had co-ed softball games. Most of their team was out of town so they asked Alan and me to play. We had a lot of fun but now we are both very sore. Alan spent most of the weekend fixing his brother's sprinkling system.
Why do we even have beds for our children? They both sleep on the floor more than they sleep in their beds. I found Sawyer most of the way under his bed sleeping the other night. Usually he sleeps in the corner of his room. Sadie also usually sleeps on her floor. Crazy kids.
I took Sadie's training wheels off her bike and we went the the stake center parking lot to practice. She did okay, but she is far from riding it on her own. Any tips on helping her learn would be greatly appreciated.

Sadie and one of the kittens. They are probably three times bigger now than they were when they were born. Their eyes are now open and they are absolutely adorable.
Sadie loves to dress up in her fairy princess clothes and she loves to play soccer. She has some pretty fancy foot work. We have fun playing.

my sister just taught her little girl to ride a bike, and she has some helpful advice! (i'm just copying and pasting this from her blog):
The old method of running alongside your child, and letting go just at the right time does not work very well (at least not for us). We tried this for several days and Courtney was having a hard time balancing the bike by herself. We decided to try something Bryan found online. He took the pedals off her bike, and started her at the top of the driveway, then just told her to lift up her feet and coast down, trying not to touch the ground. The first few times, she had to touch quite a bit, but then after about 20 minutes, she could coast all the way down without touching. Balance learned!!!!
What fun with grampa, he will bea working boy soon! I love the princess soccer. they are such cute children, I really wish we were closer.
I can't believe Sadie's old enough for no training wheels. Ellen's still using a three wheel bike. I gotta try and keep up with the times! :)

I didn't think there was another grandpa's house that was more a of a boy's wonderland than my folks' house. Tractors with wheels taller than a grown man! Don't tell Adam.
I don't even dare take Lily's off yet for fear she will not get back on after the first fall. But I raised the training wheels of the ground a bit so it's kinda riding with out but if she leans one way she won't fall.
I want a kitty!! Cute. And no training wheel, wow! Emma is definitely not ready for that. Maybe soon. The princess soccer looks all to familiar too! Gosh, they've grown up so much. I miss our little baby girls sometimes! Take care!!
